About Us

To talk about us is to talk about you, oh projects patriot, because you are the reason we embarked on this spectacular journey in the first place.

It all started when our kingpin, Hans du Toit, saw an industry deprived of the skill they so desperately needed, the skill that could protect them in the battle of claims, and pave their way to certain project success. And the rest, as they say, is history. If you want to know that history, travel back in time with us below. You can also check out our team, or see the driving force behind all our dealings in our vision and mission.

The PROFACTAPLAN Journey

2006

Profactaplan was founded in 2006 when we realized that there is a shortage of skill in the market.  We decided that we needed, and wanted, to make a difference. So Profactaplan was born out of an understanding of the dire need that organizations have for proper skill. The initial goal was purely to train people, but the demand was so great that, before we even knew it, we were providing services.

So, we started providing project controls services, including costs, resources, risk and various other aspects, but we specialized, and still specialize, in project planning. The reason for specializing in project planning is because we have identified that there is a dire need in the international market. Our service was founded on the principle of a group of people who have the same intent, the same mindset, and that is to improve the situation on projects and to improve the performance and success rates of organizations.

Recruiters (or body shops, as we call it) also saw the need, so they started sourcing and placing individuals (or bodies, as we call it). In our experience they struggle to find quality project control professionals due to a lack of standards and training in the field. Our services were premised on the fact that we wanted to ensure that the project gets the entire service that it needs. So rather than just take an individual and placing him/her on a project, we placed individuals with the full backing of a seasoned project controls team, collectively boasting in excess of 50 years project controls experience at international standards.

2007

While delivering our service, we started our training goal in the form of mentorship. We mentored individuals one-on-one to equip them for the field of project planning. They quickly became part of our services team. Some are still with us today, while others continue to service the industry elsewhere.

2012

A good 5 years later, we offered our first formal training sessions. These delivered our first two formal graduates who went on to excel beyond expectation in the field, due to their solid foundation. This proved to us that we were on the right track, leading to our second group of graduates in 2015.

2017

After a long process, we finally got our short course: The Fundamentals of Project Planning, accredited with Services SETA in 2017 and also started development on other quality assurance products for the project controls industry.

2018

One of these products was the PFP rating, an assessment indicating skill level in Project Planners. In 2018 we had our first two PFP rating trials. From the first trial we did some finetuning, before testing it again in the second trial. It underwent a further refinement process to ensure that it is 100% accurate and relevant in the field.

2019

We launched our Project Controls Awareness seminars at our first ever exhibition at the Africa Enery Indaba in 2019, while also announcing that our training went online, making it accessible from anywhere in the world.

From its inception in 2006 till today, Profactaplan continues to strive for the improvement of performance and success rates, for projects and organizations around the world.

"DO IT RIGHT OR DON'T DO IT AT ALL."

Hilda Beer

TRAINING DEVELOPER &
SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETER

  • LINKEDIN | HILDA BEER

Hilda's career did not start in projects, but it wasn't long until it gravitated towards it. Initially, as a hair dresser, it started with weddings. Unlike the normal hairdresser, she handled every wedding like a full scale project, with activities, timelines, the works. She then found that she had a love of teaching, and became a SETA assessor in her trade. This SETA background proved invaluable when she came to Profactaplan, predominantly in the training division. Hilda has a passion for sharing knowledge and letting that knowledge uplift people and give them opportunities. She is also the instigator behind our "100 spekbome in 100 days" project.

"LIFE IS A PROJECT."

Angie du Toit

ADMIISTRATOR

  • LINKEDIN | ANGIE DU TOIT

Angie is the most organized person in our company with the memory of an elephant. This makes her the queen of paperwork. When she studied hospitality, she not only got distinctions in all her subjects, but  also got the top achiever award. That award could easily stand even today as she tackles every task with all that she's got. Angie is extremely serious about providing decent customer service and demonstrates this in all her correspondence, whether with clients, students or employees.

"NEED A HAND? HERE'S TWO."

Celio Graça

PROJECT PLANNER

  • LINKEDIN | CELITO GRACA

While working as a technician, installing complex irrigation systems, Celito got a taste of running projects, albeit with small, often one man teams. After completing the Principles of Project Planning course through Profactaplan, he applied these skills to his irrigation projects. He saw the difference this made in his projects and started looking for an opportunity to migrate to project planning. It was fitting that his first steps in the industry would be in the place he learned his skills in the first place, Profactaplan. Since then he has proven to be a determined mind who will stop at nothing to get it right. With a strong sense of principle, he ensures that his planning is done by the book.

"THEY SAY IT CAN'T BE DONE. I'LL SEE FOR MYSELF"

Cheldon Langeveld

PROJECT PLANNER

  • LINKEDIN | CHELDON LANGEVELD

Cheldon spent many years leading project teams in the refrigeration industry, which often took him to a number of countries in Africa. His people skills have always been his trademark, treating every team member with respect and working with them rather than above them.

Since moving over to project planning he has worked on a variety of projects, including power generation, manufacturing plants, and oil & gas. Cheldon is a go getter and the man when you need to get things done. His focus is on the project, so he works with all contractors involved to get the project to its destination

"LET'S GET IN AND GET IT DONE."
